Compliance with Canadian labour laws

It is illegal in Canada to charge job seekers for finding them work or providing job seekers with information about employers who have job vacancies. We do comply with the Canadian laws in that respect - we charge employers for posting company ads on this web site and we charge job seekers for posting their profiles on this web site. Also we charge for resume preparation, translation of documents, marketing of job seekers' skills etc. All those activities are in full compliance with the Canadian labour laws.

Employment Standards Act - BC

No charge for hiring or providing information
10 (1) A person must not request, charge or receive, directly or indirectly, from a person seeking employment a payment for
(a) employing or obtaining employment for the person seeking employment, or
(b) providing information about employers seeking employees.
(2) A person does not contravene this section by requesting, charging or receiving payment for any form of advertisement from the person who placed the advertisement.
(3) A payment received by a person in contravention of this section is deemed to be wages owing and this Act applies to the recovery of the payment.

Advertising

An employer, an employment agency or a person seeking employment may pay to advertise a job or their services.

An employment agency may not require a person seeking employment to pay for any form of advertising as a condition of assisting them to find a job.
